PAWS/Advisory
Advisory is like the traditional homeroom. This group of students stay together as a group for 4 years of high school with their faculty member called their "advisor." They meet daily and receive their PAWS requests, or on Wednesdays remain together for advisory lessons and activities.
Each grade level has a different focus for the year.
9th grade begins working in Naviance, learning about the course request process and academic planning focus. They receive diversity lessons throughout the year celebrating national heritage months.
10th grade begins focusing on career planning, learning about the course request process and academic planning focus. They receive diversity lessons throughout the year celebrating national heritage months.
11th grade focuses heavily on preparing for mock interviews. They continue academic planning for senior year. They receive diversity lessons throughout the year celebrating national heritage months.
12th grade focuses college and career preparation. They receive diversity lessons throughout the year celebrating national heritage months.
PAWS time is 30 minutes Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday where students are requested by teachers for a variety of reasons. Students may use this time for second chance learning, remediation, makeup of classwork missed, makeup of a test/quiz, or enrichment.
Students first report to their advisor, listen to morning announcements, and then receive from their advisor their request by a teacher. We use the "flex tracker" system for teachers to request a student and then to log in that they have received the student in their classroom. There are no PAWS on Wednesday. Students remain in advisory on Wednesdays for an advisory lesson.
Clubs also meet during PAWS time. A student may attend a club meeting ONLY IF they have NOT been requested by a teacher.
If you are not requested by a teacher, you remain in advisory and use the time for personal use to complete homework or classwork assignments, study for a test or quiz, read silently, visit the media center, or study.
You may NOT use your device, or be in the hallways without a pass. Students may NOT visit multiple teachers during PAWS.
If multiple teachers request a student, there are "trump" days to indicate which teacher you should attend. Monday is MOD 1 day, Tuesday MOD 2, Thursday MOD 3, Friday MOD 4.

School Pictures
Underclass (Grades 9-11) picture days are Wednesday, September 14 & Thursday, September 15.
Students take pictures during their English class. If a student does not have English class during semester 1, they will receive a pass with an assigned time to come to the auditorium to take their picture. If a student is not in the building for a period of the day, their pass will be during the time they are present in the building.
Picture forms are distributed in advisory.
Senior Panoramic photo in the Senior T-Shirt is scheduled for Friday, September 23 for the class of '23! The photo is taken during MOD 1 at the beginning of the school day, so the most students can participate. The CCCTC bus will be held for MOD 1 to allow those students to be in the photo and then arrived to CCCTC excused for their lateness.
